My friend and her boyfriend are going on a cycling holiday next week and, although she is looking forward to it, she is not nearly as proficient at cycling as her boyfriend is. Secretly, she confided in me that she wished they had electric bikes to make the journeys easier. I laughed when she told me this and said that surely electric bikes defeated the object of a cycling holiday.
