electric moped
By wendy smith

A petrol powered moped would certainly be a cheap type of transport to get you to and from work but does it meet with your green credentials? Having looked at various types of transport for the daily commute you thought the moped would be the best option. Yet, even mopeds can still pump out harmful pollutants, so this puts you off this type of bike. Look again at the moped option though because there could be something that you are missing. New versions are now available and they aren`t powered by petrol they are powered by electric. These mopeds look the same but they have green credentials and for a limited time only an Electric Moped can be bought for less than five hundred pounds. Charge the Electric Moped up for 8 hours and it will provide you with a 20 ? 30 mile range. People looking for transportation that doesn`t harm the environment will find the Electric Moped to be ideal. Each charge only costs about 8 pence and the mopeds benefit from free road tax and no congestion charge if they are being used in the city of London. Put petrol power firmly to the back of your mind because electric is the future for modern mopeds.

My friend and her boyfriend are going on a cycling holiday next week and, although she is looking forward to it, she is not nearly as proficient at cycling as her boyfriend is. Secretly, she confided in me that she wished they had electric bikes to make the journeys easier. I laughed when she told me this and said that surely electric bikes defeated the object of a cycling holiday. She explained that electric bikes have the advantage of being able to give additional power when you are climbing a steep hill and that you can use it as a regular bike the rest of the time. I thought this was a great idea and said she should use them if it would make her happier but she was really worried about what her boyfriend would think about her lack of physical strength. Now I feel that she should be truthful with her boyfriend. He is a really nice chap and I am sure he would see the positive advantages of using these types of bikes. However, she has some strange sense of pride about it and is insistent on using traditional bikes instead. I am looking forward to hearing the tales of the desperately difficult hills she will have to climb along the way.
